About the ACT Region Veterans Golf Association (ACTRVGA)

The ACT Region Veterans Golf Association (ACTRVGA) brings together senior golfers across the ACT and surrounding regions. Founded in the early 1970s, the association continues to promote friendly competition, camaraderie, and the love of golf among members aged 55 and over.

Our History

The ACTRVGA was officially formed in the early 1970s, with the first Open Stroke Championship (OSC) held in 1973 during Melbourne Cup week. This event ran annually until 2006, after which it was rescheduled to take place in the first two weeks of December—where it remains today.

In 1997, the association’s constitution was amended to include “Monaro” in the name. Later in 2008, when the association became incorporated under the ACT Corporations Act, the term “Region” replaced “Monaro” at the direction of the ACT Regulatory Authority.
